Chief Pilot
Vitor Laranjeira
It was in 1971, at the age of four, when I moved to the neighborhood of Tires airfield. My toys were true scale and noise-making planes of the films of that time.
During weekends and holidays the Aero Club of Portugal and paratroopers were on the airfield, while the children could play in the associated garden on retired aircraft, the F86 fighter and the T6.
I didn't rest until I made a friend from inside the airfield, a maintenance technician who let me into the hangar and watch all what was going on there.
One day / Some years later I met Mr. Col. Vitor Brito, listening carefully to every word he was saying... I will never forget him.
I began my aeronautical career in August 1989 as administrative at the Colonel’s Flight School Aerocondor, the first aviation school for civil professional pilots in Portugal. During nine years I went forward in the administration of this school.
In 1998 I began my integrated course as airline pilot, completing successfully in 2000.
Afterwards I started my commercial experience flying air taxis at Aerocondor and also obtained the qualification as flight instructor, following up with various tasks in this area.
In 2002 I obtained several type ratings (Do228 and SH36) working as regional airline pilot first. Later I flew international cargo for Fedex.
In 2005 I started to fly international passenger transport between Europe and North Africa with ATR 42/72 and Airbus 320.
Having an experience of more than 3.000 hours, I decided to return fully to instruction, from which I had never given up completely, always collaborating this in part-time.
In October 2018 I was invited to join Global Flight School as chief pilot. I believe so much in this project and can identify so deeply with it, that I finally gave up on my 20 years of tight and trusting relationship to Aerocondor, which is nowadays part of L3.
I understand myself as friend and mentor of the students, companion of the instructors, reference of the colleagues in all departments of the company and link to the National Aviation Authority. I instructed hundreds of students from various continents, cultures and religions, with whom I made true and long friendships. I am contributing all my enthusiasm and seeking always new challenges in order to improve and develop our performance in flight instruction.
